George Leonard dies at 86
I have just learnt that George Leonard, aikido pioneer and human potential movement writer, died on the 6th of January aged 86: an obituary was printed in The New York Times.
I have practiced Zen for some years, and once even walked the Shikoku Buddhist pilgrimage in Japan with my partner.
Then we had a kid, and I neglected Zen for a while, as my everyday life came to resemble a permanent Zen sesshin: no sleep, precious little alone time or encouragement for one's ego. Now I am making a stealthy return to Zen but from a householder's point of view, stealing in to the back row and hoping the Ancestors don't catch me...
